Klöppeln, 40 Muster der Grazer Spitze. Graz, the second city of Austria and capital of the province of Styria, was European Capital of Culture in 2003 and was where Berta Körösi lived.
Decades ago, she wrote a few bits about bobbin lace. They lay forgotten until Emma De Ro (an Austrian lady from Graz, married to a Belgian) got the papers from someone, left them in a drawer for years and suddenly realised what it was she had. She examined them closely and became fascinated by what she had in her hands because not a single piece of lace survived from the time when the lady was writing the documents, or could be found.
So she decided to breathe new life into it by following Berta Körösi's instructions very closely. The result a very beautiful book!
The author includes a description of the characteristics of "Grazer Spitze" (Graz lace).
In the book there are many photos and with each example is a lovely description of how to work it, information on what materials you need and accompanying drawings make much clear.
Emma has divided her book into chapters including ones on jewels, flowers, edgings and gift ideas.
